Innovation

Process Efficiencies

Continually Searching for a Better Way

Like many of our customers, we’re chemists. Guided by science we not only seek answers, we search for new innovations and more advanced approaches. We’re pragmatic — not sidetracked by trends or chasing headlines. We’re focused and working hard to simply save our customers time and money while increasing the sustainability of each process.

Catalyst Screening

Maximizing Potential with Flow Chemistry

Asymchem’s catalyst screening capability tackles problematic synthetic conversions without going to outside specialty companies, leading to more efficient processes, more control, and ultimately cost savings for our customers.

Non-Precious Metal Catalysis (NPMC)

Cost-saving, Sustainable Alternatives for Coupling Reactions

The precious metals typically used as catalysts in pharmaceutical manufacturing — palladium, platinum, rhodium, and ruthenium — keep costs high and efficiencies low. Working in-house and in collaboration with industry and academic leaders, we wanted to find a better way, so we co-founded the NPMC Consortium. In concert, we’ve developed processes and procedures that use non-precious metal catalysis (NPMC) to challenge cost, abundance, sustainability, and waste inefficiencies.

PPQ Readiness

Process Validation You Can Trust

Before NDA filing, Asymchem works with customers on the process validation (PV) enabling work (pre-PPQ) that will deliver a robust commercial process. Using our extensive experience, we naturally recommend starting materials, intermediate specifications, proven acceptable range (PAR) parameters, and CPP identification. Underlying all the process activities are advanced analytical methods that confirm every decision.

Process Intensification

The Science of Using Less, to Deliver More

Asymchem innovations in Process Intensification (PI) result in reduced production time, improved yields, and safer processes. Our dedicated team of process engineers and chemists can perform modeling supported by lab experiments and data to ultimately use fewer inputs to get more output. This includes identifying which processes can benefit from running in flow versus batch. To meet PI needs, we have flow and batch process equipment in a variety of designs and configurations and a dedicated crystallization department.

Solvent Recovery

Reduced Environmental Impact Delivers Lower Costs

Because solvent is almost always the single biggest input in the drug manufacturing process, we’ve focused on optimizing and innovating around solvent recovery. If we can capture, recycle, or reuse solvent we’re increasing process intensification and reducing the environmental impact from operations — even eliminating the need for solvent incineration. Our distillation and unit operations experts ensure the reliable quality of recovered streams. Ultimately that also means that our customers are getting the most value out of every input.

Automation

Ensuring Reliability and Safety of Process Operations

Asymchem’s appropriate use of advanced process automation in both batch and flow unit operations delivers repeatability, accuracy, and control while minimizing human error. In fact, Asymchem has pioneered high hazard process operations in China and is recognized for our extensive use of automatic process interlocks, safety instrumented systems, as well as automated data capture systems.
